Here a a few resources to help you get started in showing and trialing
Drop-in Conformation Practice
Several area clubs offer drop in practice. This will help you and your dog learn what is expected in the ring. It is a good venue to introduce dogs to group settings.
Formal Training Classes
Find classes and "Try It" sessions such as obedience, rally, puppy, tricks, agility, Speedway, dock diving, scent work and barn hunt.
Form a Practice Group
Find people in your area with similar training goals. Find a location and time that fits everyone's needs and help each other learn and train. Join a dog club to meet people with similar interests.
Location ideas: Park, Dog Park, Community Center, Backyard, Dog Club, County Fair Grounds.
Communication ideas: Set up a group text to confirm dates, locations and times.
Learning the Rules for a Competition
Be prepared for a competition! There are many resources available to help you learn what to expect at a show or trial.
Too far away to attend regular classes or events?
You can do some basic training at home. The American Kennel Club offers some Rally, Agility Course Test, Tricks, Fit Dog, Therapy Dog and Canine Good Citizen titles to be earned online with Virtual Titles.
Show and Go's and Fun Runs
Companion Dog Club has a Monthly Obedience Fun Match. It is a great opportunity to meet people and learn with your dog. These have been held on Sunday's.
